Coaster College started in the summer of 2017 when 16 year old coaster enthusiast Brennan Daugstrup got annoyed by the abundance of popular YouTube videos claiming to show how unsafe roller coasters were. This prompted the creation of a 10 minute video breaking down one of these popular videos and explaining how safe rides really were. This first video garnered a lot of attention and it spawned a new series exploring these videos and debunking the claims made about the industry within them.
The first episode of the flagship series "What Really Happened" is uploaded, this video would become the first factual breakdown of a ride accident posted to YouTube and would become the channels first video to pass 1 million views. This same year also marked my entry into the industry, working my first job as a ride operator. This role would spark an immense fascination with the industry that I still continue to this day.
The pandemic allowed for time to break into new areas. A new series known as Flat Ride of the Week (now Flat Ride Friday) was started. This focused on new aspects of ride safety by explaining how various flat rides worked. Like "What Really Happened" this series continues today and sees a small, but dedicated fan base.
Coaster College 2 begins uploading. This channel is dedicated to providing copyright free footage for other creators needing Broll for their videos. This has been expanded to offer selections of Coaster College animations completely for free. This channel also exists as an outlet for more fun video topics and behind the scenes videos.
After over a year of work, Coaster College animations debuted to the world in the most detailed "What Really Happened" video to date. This video features 100% in house models and animations of one of the most infamous drop towers ever created.Â
Now the skills I have gained operating Coaster College are available to you. This includes services such as ride safety training videos, custom made animations, and more! Additionally, continuing with my goal of making ride safety education accessible to all, this website has several free resources on the topic for independent study.
